UPDATE FROM
THE CEO

Dear Members & Staff,

I hope that each of you have welcomed the new year energized and refreshed after spending quality time with friends and family. In my household, I was so happy to spend quality time with my wife and kids, but I also valued much appreciated time with my mom. I couldn’t be more grateful for the people in my life.

Dow Bay Area Family YMCA is here to help our community build a healthy spirit, mind, and body. January always brings an increased buzz of activity at the YMCA as we work to respond to the new waves of people joining our Y family.  New faces in our facility means that our mission’s reach is expanding!  We serve not only by providing a beautiful and welcoming facility for our community to gather, but by helping people reach their fitness goals, teaching them a new skill (i.e. how to swim, self-defense, youth sports, etc.), providing personal care items through our new soon-to-be open Community Closet, providing Emergency Food Boxes for pick up or delivery for those in need, providing free meals to anyone ages 18 and under through our Free Youth Food Program, the list goes on and on. I continue to be impressed by our ability to bring people of all backgrounds together through our membership, programs and volunteer opportunities.

I am mainly writing this letter to say thank you. You, our members, and staff make the Y special. Your spirit allows us to serve so many people in the many ways that we do. Many think of the Y as just a gym and swim or childcare, but we are so much more than that. Our impact goes above and beyond the doors opening and closing each day. Follow this link to see our 2024 Impact Report!

If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out via email skrankota@ymcabaycity.org or by calling my direct line at 989-778-3447. I will also be spending time in the lobby at the end of January to meet and greet our members.

Financial AsSistance Programs

Individuals will not be turned away from participating in programs, activities, and/or membership due to their inability to pay. The Y maintains a generous financial assistance program for youth, adults, and families who demonstrate financial need. Funding for this program is provided by fundraising events at the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA and community-wide donors.
