Here at the YMCA you don’t just buy a membership, you join and belong to our community. Nationally, there are over 21 million members who belong to the Y, spread out over 2,700 facilities. As a member of the YMCA, you belong to a community of people focused on wellness, family, and helping others.
About the Joining Fee: An amount equal to 90% of the one-time joining fee is transferred to our Building Endowed Trust for the preservation and maintenance of the YMCA facility at 225 Washington Ave.
For our continuous members, it is our pledge to only charge this joining fee once during initial sign-up. This joining fee has the ability to be split over the first three months for those who pay through EFT.
24/7 Fitness is our newest workout space at the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA. All members who are 18 years old and older and who have signed our 24/7 waiver are welcome to use this space. This part of our facility is not staffed, but is truly open around the clock. Get your fitness at your YMCA on your time–even on holidays, whenever we’re open, and when we’re closed!
24/7 Fitness is not staffed and is only available to our members who are at least 18 years old. Please work out responsibly.
Only Dow Bay Area Family YMCA members will be allowed 24/7 Fitness access on the basis of safety. We need to know who is using our facilities after hours, and they will need to sign off on this use.
Because of safety and legal reasons, only members who are 18 years and older, and who can legally sign the liability waiver, will be granted 24/7 Fitness access for after hours use.
This will not apply to all members, but if any of our members are currently using a barcode that begins with the letter A, the new 24/7 Fitness entrance scanner will not be able to read the barcode to allow after hours access. Please check your Member Card and pick up a new one at no cost at the Member Service Desk if necessary.
If your photo has not been updated in our system, or is poorly visible, we do ask that you update your photo with our Member Service Desk staff. This should only take a moment, and is required for us to monitor our security camera equipment and verify that only our members with signed legal use of 24/7 access are using the new fitness space.
All members who are 18 will need to sign the liability waiver and honor code in order to access the 24/7 Fitness outside of regular business hours. We need your approval of our terms of use which include not allowing friends or family to use your Member Card. Failure to abide by the honor code may result in forfeiting your membership to the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA. Please make sure that you have completed the rest of the items on this page as well before gaining access.

In honor of the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA’s devoted employee and friend for over 45 years, friends and family of Nancy Powers have donated and inspired a Memorial Scholarship in Nancy’s name.
Nancy Powers cared deeply for each of our members and embodied the Y’s dedication to serve our communities. A friend to many of our Senior Members, this scholarship will provide 12 months of membership, free of charge, to one Senior 65 years old and older to promote healthy and active older adults.
If you are interested in applying for the Nancy Powers Memorial Scholarship, please use the button below or visit the Member Service Desk.
Financial need, as well as life’s circumstances, will be taken into consideration and a committee of YMCA staff will determine who is awarded.
All members of the military, coast guard, first responders, dispatchers, and veterans are qualified to receive half off of the joining fee and 10% off the monthly membership rate at our YMCA.
We understand that military families are under enormous strain, and that military life comes with unique challenges. Deployments and frequent moves can be a stressful and uncertain time for our nation’s servicemen and women and their families.
In partnership with the Armed Services YMCA, the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA is proud to offer memberships to eligible military families and personnel through the Department of Defense’s (DoD) Military Outreach Initiative.
The Military Outreach Initiative gives service members and military families extra support and access to vital resources that promote youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. It’s another way of giving back to those who dedicate themselves to serving our country.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!

The YMCA is a 501 (c)(3) charitable, non-profit organization open to all people, from all backgrounds. We are a family of community-minded people dedicated to improving your overall health and well-being. Here at the YMCA you don’t just buy a membership, you join and belong to our family. The YMCA is a member-based organization, because when you join the Y, your loyalty supports our position in the community, so that we can better support the individuals in our community.
But, we understand not everyone is ready to commit to a membership right away. This is why we are introducing the One Month Membership Trial for prospective members to try our facility, get to know our staff, and learn more about our programming.
Visit our Member Service Desk at the Y anytime that we are open to begin your one-month trial. Valid ID is required, and MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION will need to be signed.
Our one-time joining fee is used for our endowment fund, to ensure, protect, and maintain this building for the future of this Y.
Corporate Membership Programs Include:
Through a YMCA corporate membership, your employees have access to many resources for increased physical activity social connections, and overall improved health.
The majority of US healthcare expenses can be attributed to the diagnosis and treatment of chronic diseases and health conditions, such as diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, and high blood pressure. Positive lifestyle changes, such as increased physical activity and a heathy diet can often prevent these costly medical conditions before they arise.
Workers who exercise regularly tend to have more energy and be more productive while at work. As little as 30 minutes of physical activity several times a week can have a significant positive impact on workers' physical and mental well-being.
Many employees view health promotion programs as an added perk that makes them feel valued and appreciated by their employer. Employees who feel valued are less likely to seek employment elsewhere, decreasing turnover. Similarly, a well-being program can serve as a valuable recruiting tool as you seek to attract the best possible talent to your organization.
Employees suffering from chronic health conditions are more likely to miss work than healthy employees. Helping workers make positive lifestyle changes can reduce absenteeism and the drain it represents on company morale.
All of our Corporate Wellness Partnerships are designed to be true partnerships between the YMCA and the employer contributing to better your employees’ health and well-being.
In this plan, the YMCA matches your contribution to your employees up to $5.
This means, if you contribute $5 to your employee’s membership costs, the YMCA will match that, and your employees will receive $10 off their monthly membership payment.
