Aquatics Summer Camps

Is your child looking to explore the depths of the lake or ocean this year, but don’t know where to start? Why not try our Deep Sea Adventures Camp! This camp designed for 7-10 year olds and covers basic snorkeling safety and diving skills within our lap pool. By the end your child will be ready to experience the lower depths of ponds, lakes, and oceans.

A snorkel and goggles that cover the nose are required for this camp; the Y front desk does not sell this item at this time.

Fins are recommended but not necessary. The Y Aquatics department does have fins free of charge, but cannot guarantee enough pairs or correct fin sizes for all participants. Please bring your own towel.

Is your child interested in Lifeguarding, but don’t know where to start? This Lifeguard Preparedness program is designed to guide youths ages 11- early 14 through the basic knowledge, attitude, and skills necessary one needs as a future Lifeguard.

This camp practices scanning zones, aquatic and on-land rescue scenarios, and performing life-saving skills such as CPR, using an AED, and First Aid.

If your child is close to turning 15 years old, they may be ready to take our formal Lifeguarding Course, which by the end and completion of the course, they will receive an American Red Cross certification in Lifeguarding, CPR/First Aid, and AED. We will offer a formal Lifeguarding Course in October 2024.

Hoopsters is a 50-minute, 3-day camp designed to introduce our littles to the sport of basketball. This camp is geared towards 3-6 year old’s who have an interest in playing basketball, but haven’t had the opportunity yet. Kids will start to learn the basic skills of dribbling, passing, and shooting, as well as some footwork to start building coordination. This camp will be lead by Coach Jimmy Dawkins.

This camp is for K-2nd Graders who have an interest in playing but haven’t formally had the opportunity yet. Advanced Football is a 50-minute, 3-day camp for young athletes who have at least 3 years of playing experience and want to fine tune their skills. This camp will combine endurance training with skills work on passing & catching to get you game-day ready. There will be a focus on footwork coordination, as well as speed & agility training. Bumpsters

Bumpsters is a 50-minute, 3-day camp designed to introduce your little to the sport of volleyball. This camp is for 3–6-year old’s who have an interest in playing volleyball but haven’t formally had the opportunity yet. Kids will start to learn the basic skills of bumping, setting, and hitting, as well as some footwork to start building coordination, in a fun & encouraging environment. This camp will be led by Coach Bella Salinas.

This camp is for K-2nd Graders who have an interest in playing but haven’t formally had the opportunity yet. Kids will start to learn the basic skills of hitting, as well as developing their hand-eye coordination skills in a fun & encouraging environment. The morning sessions will be led by Coach Joe Ricard, and the evening sessions will be lead by Coach Chris Dagneau.

This camp will combine use of the ball machine to increase reps, as well as practicing serving, playing at the net, and doubles match play to get the most game-time practice in a fun & encouraging environment. The morning sessions will be led by Coach Joe Ricard, and the evening sessions will be lead by Coach Chris Dagneau.

Financial AsSistance Programs

Individuals will not be turned away from participating in programs, activities, and/or membership due to their inability to pay. The Y maintains a generous financial assistance program for youth, adults, and families who demonstrate financial need. Funding for this program is provided by fundraising events at the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA and community-wide donors.
