Job Title: Accounting Assistant
Reports to: Accounting Director
Status: Part Time (20 hours per week)
Compensation: $15.00/hour and complimentary household Y membership

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Accounting Assistant will provide administrative assistance to support the effective and efficient business operations of Dow Bay Area Family YMCA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide administrative support for the Accounting department
- Create various accounting reports and spreadsheets
- Assist with Accounts Payable data entry, filing, and check processing
- Assist with month-end and year-end closings, including journal entries
- Organize accounting records and assist with grant reporting
- Assist with performing entry level accounting functions such as cash reconciliation, data processing and reporting
- Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts
- Complete various special projects and other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree in Accounting or related field experience required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and strong skills in Excel)
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Resourcefulness, ability to take initiative, and to work both independently and as a team member
- Must be highly detail oriented and organized and have the ability to handle financial and other personal information in a confidential manner
