Job Title: Sports Instructor
Reports to: Sports & Wellness Director
Status: Part-time
Compensation: $12.50/hr. and FREE YMCA Household Membership
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Sports Instructor is responsible for providing quality sports instruction in accordance with YMCA standards that promotes teamwork, skill development, and sportsmanship for all participants and spectators.
JOB DETAILS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Knowledge of program specific sport/game skills and rules, preferred.
- Experience coaching or instructing children ages 4-17 preferred.
- Provide enjoyable, high-quality instruction.
- Set up and break down equipment as necessary.
- Provide encouragement during instruction while being an enthusiastic and positive representative of the YMCA.
- Willingness to attend meetings and trainings.
- Be a member service ambassador, remaining abreast of current programs and facility schedules; being prepared to provide personalized direction to other YMCA services.
- Work in harmony and cooperation with the staff, volunteers and members of the YMCA.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School (or GED) preferred.
- Outgoing, compassionate, and considered a “people person” with outstanding customer service skills.
- Prefer to have previous experience and/or knowledge in areas offered.
- Self-motivated and energetic with the ability to take initiative.
- Honor your colleagues by being on time, present and fully engaged at all times.
